Every Child an Achiever is a not for profit organisation and contributes to the efforts taken to help equip young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to transition into adulthood as confident and compassionate citizens.
We believe that education opens pathways to new and exciting opportunities. With sufficient support all young people can, irrespective of their economic, social or cultural backgrounds, succeed and grow into confident adults. In a fast changing world that puts increasing demands for higher levels of skills and qualifications, the provision of innovative and exciting out of school hours learning activities, in a safe and non-formal settings, has become critical to our children’s achievement. Non formal learning offers a new way of thinking about education and its methodology and principles can be successfully applied to deal with challenging situations young people may find themselves in during their school life.
meeting the learning needs of young people – particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, using non formal learning methodologies to improve motivation, self confidence and, above all, achievement
contributing to the efforts taken at national and European levels to celebrate diversity and promote inclusion, equality and social justice
work in collaboration with NGOs, schools and agencies at national and European levels to encourage and enable children to become better learners, assert their rights and engage in democratic activities to influence policies and decisions that affect them
Creating training courses and resource materials for schools and other learning institutions from evidence based good practice examples
We work towards achieving these aims through carefully planned and structured Out of School Hours Learning |OSHL| activities and empowering programmes that will:
help young people gain self-confidence and motivation and become better learners
help young people acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills through their participation in evidence based learning activities in a non-formal and safe environment
encourage and enable young people to play a meaningful role in democratic activities, challenge stereotypes and discrimination and celebrate diversity
enable young people to gain greater awareness of decision making through their active participation
The evidence shows that ensuring access to Out of School Hours learning opportunities will enable young people to achieve better and to become skilled, confident and motivated independent lifelong learners
Structured and targeted OSHL programmes built on the following principles will play an effective role in raising young people’s achievement levels during their school life:
Out of school hours learning provision is available to every child at school
Schools value OSHL as an effective strategy for raising standards and integrate it in their policies and practice
Schools deliver OSHL as an integral part of their provision of education and not as an added extra
School provide OSHL programmes with fun and enjoyment as key characteristics and with systems to monitor and measure impact.
